Medicine for people seeking holistic alternatives

A different kind of relationship with your doctor

66.jpg

What is your background?

I grew up in East Lansing, Michigan and got my undergraduate degree from Amherst College and my medical degree from Harvard Medical School.  I was on the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine for 24 years.  I have intensely studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, social support, nutrition and metabolism, doctor-patient communication, and spiritual aspects of healing.  I was the Medical Director of Plum Spring Clinic for seven years.

Why a one-physician clinic?

It is my passionate conviction that simple, honest, direct personal communication is the core component of an effective doctor-patient relationship.  All aspects of this clinic are organized to promote direct, frequent communication during both the diagnostic and initial treatment phase of the relationship and subsequently.
